Wolf Lake old-growth forest show reception same day as by-election
SUDBURY — January 30, 2015 — Spirit of the Red Pine, a fundraising visual art exhibit by pARTners for Wolf Lake will launch Monday at Artists on Elgin. The exhibit is a culmination of work produced by thirteen artists in an endeavour to raise awareness about protecting the world’s largest and endangered old-growth red pine forest. The exhibit will be on display during the month of February. An
opening reception will be held on February 5 from 5 to 7 p.m.
During the Sudbury by-election campaign, the Wolf Lake Coalition is calling on party leaders and candidates to commit to adding Wolf Lake to the neighbouring Chiniguchi Waterway Provincial Park. The art project is a fundraiser for the
Coalition.
“After critically-acclaimed shows around Ontario, we are proud to bring this art home for its last show,” says show organizer Bob Olajos. “Sudburians have always loved Wolf Lake and they want to see it protected.”
“I recognize the immense healing power of nature,” says painter Patricia Gray. “Wolf Lake helps us connect with our own True Nature.” Gray, from North Bay, uses acrylic mediums as a way of processing and expressing her many and
varied cultural and wilderness experiences.
“When Water Falls in the Forest….” by pARTners for Wolf Lake artist Patricia Gray was produced at a stunning, intimate place on the Chiniguchi River, a series of cascading pools aptly called Paradise Lagoon. The acrylic painting
is 14 ” x 38 ” framed, and will be for sale at Spirit of the Red Pine.
